Health Contract/Purchase Agreement

The Breeder Agrees to:

Ø  The Breeder agrees, to the best of their knowledge, that the dog purchased by the buyer is free from any communicable diseases and is of sound body, stable temperament and is in good general health. The buyer agrees that the pup has seen a licensed veterinarian and has received age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming, spay/neuter at 7 weeks of age, and a medical record indicating such.

Ø  The Breeder agrees to provide a one-year health guarantee against life-threatening or life-altering hereditary or genetic conditions such as hip dysplasia, epilepsy or eye defects for up to one year of age. If a life-threatening or severe hereditary condition is found, the buyer must present all relevant x-rays and reports from a licensed veterinarian to the breeder within 7 days of the diagnosis. The breeder then reserves the right to have said puppy checked and the condition verified by the Breeder’s vet of choice to confirm the diagnosis. If the genetic defect is confirmed, the owner has three choices:

  1. The buyer may return the puppy to the breeder without a refund or exchange of any money.
  2. The buyer may return the puppy to the breeder without refund or exchange of money, however, the breeder agrees to provide the buyer with another puppy upon availability (could take up to two years) that is of equal value.
  3. The buyer chooses to keep the puppy and the breeder agrees to pay the veterinary bills, for treatment of the condition only, up to and not exceeding the purchased price of the puppy.

**This health guarantee does not include maladies that are common to any living creature such as ear infections, food or environment allergies, misaligned teeth or tooth decay, umbilical hernias, parasites/worms etc. The breeder is not responsible for any diseases that the dog receives while in the care of the new owner, as well as accidents or injuries to the dog that are caused by inappropriate diet, excessive exercise, inflicted injury or lack of care and supervision. If the dog has been sold to new owners, the health guarantee becomes null and void.

Ø  The breeder agreed to take back the puppy and give the buyer a full reimbursement of the purchase price of their puppy should their very find the puppy to be sick or with a presenting health condition within 72 hours of the buyer bringing their puppy home from the breeder.

Ø  The breeder continues to be a lifetime support to the buyer. The breeder agrees to be available for any questions you may have or any support you may need in the coming years of owning your new dog.

The Buyer Agrees to:

Ø  The buyer has the option to take their new puppy to the vet within 72hrs of bringing their puppy home, for a complete and thorough health check. This will offer the buyers peace of mind in knowing they have acquired a healthy puppy. Failure to do so within the first 72 hours will void the 72-hour health guarantee. The 72-hour health guarantee indicates that if the puppy is found to be sick or with a presenting health condition, the owner may return the puppy to the breeder within the 72 hours, and the breeder will reimburse the owner up to and not exceeding the amount the puppy was purchased for.

Ø  The Buyer agrees that it is their responsibility to familiarize themselves with the breed of the dog they purchased, and understand the nature of the breed, best training methods for the breed, grooming and exercise needs of the breed, and any potential medical conditions related to the breed.

Ø  If the buyer has found they are unable to care for said dog, the buyer agrees to first contact the breeder. The dog is not to go to any other person/society/institution/shelter or rescue without the breeder being first made aware. The breeder agrees to work with the buyer in attempts to rehome the dog in the most fitting and loving home possible. If this is not successful, the breeder agrees to take back the dog to find it a suitable home. No exchange of money or replacement will be offered.

Ø  The buyer acknowledges that said dogs temperament may change with lack of proper training and discipline, or if the dog is mishandled or abused. The buyer agrees to seek out puppy/obedience/training classes should they need support in raising a well behaved and properly trained dog.

Ø  The buyer agrees to provide adequate food and shelter to the dog throughout its lifetime. The buyer agreed to supply the dog with proper nutritional requirements and to maintain a healthy lifestyle for said dog. The Buyer will feed their dog premium-quality dog food. The Breeder does not suggest a grain-free diet (unless needed due to allergies). Pet food sold in grocery stores is NOT a premium pet food.

Ø  The Buyer will not allow their dog to become overweight or allow repetitive, rigorous exercise during the first year of development. The buyer agrees to familiarize themselves with hip dysplasia and understand what dog owners can change in their dog’s environment to prevent/greatly decrease the likelihood of their dog contracting hip dysplasia. Proper nutrition and exercise in the puppy’s first year of life are vital and owners/buyers are responsible for making themselves aware of this.

Ø  The buyer agrees to continue all proper veterinarian care, including vaccinations. The buyer understands that communicable diseases such as parvo are very contagious therefore their puppy should not visit dog parks/doggy daycares/kennels/pet stores/ until their puppy has their complete set of shots (12 & 16-week vaccines).
